　　Yet,ahumiliatingexperiencewroughtanindeliblememoryonmymind,triggeringmydeterminationtopursueanadvancededucationinindustrialdesign.Attheendofthefirstsemester,ourdepartmentreceivedadelegationofindustrialdesignersfromaGermanuniversity.WhentouringXX,oneofthedelegatessaidtome:“Idonotseemanygooddesignexamplesinthisorientalmetropolis.Thegraybuildings,withtheiruniformcolorsandcontours,mergewiththegrayskylineindistinctively.Thestreetlamps,bicycles,andcars,hardlyanyofthemcaptureyourattention.”Iwantedtoprotest,butIhadtoadmitthatthefirst-ratedesignsarethoseofforeignproductsandtheso-calledgooddomesticdesignsaremostlycopiesofwesterndesignideas.Undersuchcircumstances,howtobetrulycreativebecomesaquestionthathaslongobsessedme.
