　　AlmaPhilippinaHands(formerlyHansen)lateofDerbyinEngland,whodiedon29July1965bequethedtotheUniversity,fundstosupportapostgraduatetravellingscholarship.MrsHandsstudiedArtsattheUniversitywhereshewonanumberofscholarshipsandprizesincludingtheShakespeareScholarshipin1911.In1914,withtheawardofagovernmentresearchscholarshipinliteratureforthepurposeofmakinganenquiryintothesourcesofsomeShakespeareanplays,andanOrientSteamshipCompanyScholarshipforherstudyonShakespeare’sLondon,shetravelledtoEnglandandlivedatSomervilleCollegeOxfordwhereshegainedherMAin1917.

　　TheAlmaHansenScholarshipwillbeawardedtoassistwithtraveltopursuestudiesoverseas.

　　Opentograduates,whoarecurrentlyenrolledorintendtoenrol,inapostgraduateprogramatTheUniversityofMelbourneandwhowishtopursuetheirstudyandresearchwhichisrelevanttotheirgraduatestudiesatanoverseasvenue.ThevenueistobeapprovedforthesepurposesbytheCouncilontherecommendationoftheDeanoftheFacultyofArts.PreferenceshallbegiventoGraduatesintheFacultyofArts,UniversityofMelbourneanddueconsiderationgiventofinancialneeds.

　　CONDITIONS

　　Thevalueofanyscholarshipawardedwillbedeterminedafterconsideringthesuccessfulapplicant'sproposedprogramofstudy,accesstootherfinancialresourcesandestimateoftravelandlivingexpenses.Applicant'sfinancialneedwillbeconsidered,ieaccesstootherfinancialsources(APA,GRATS,GRATSTop-Up,PORES,School/departmentfunds).

　　TheSelectionCommitteewillconsiderapplicationsfortheprincipalscholarshipandforsmalleradditionalgrants.AnyincomesurplustoprovidingtheAlmaHansenScholarshipmaybeusedtoprovideloansandtravellingscholarships.

　　奖学金简介

　　阿尔玛汉森(原名汉森)出生于英格兰德比，于1965年7月29日去世。为大学中的研究生提供的旅行奖学金。汉森夫人在大学学习艺术，在那里她获得了诸多奖学金和奖项，其中包括1911年度莎士比亚奖学金。政府研究奖学金是以文学为使调查一些莎翁戏剧的来源，1914年该奖学金同东方轮船公司的奖学金共同颁发给汉森夫人用于关于“莎士比亚的伦敦”的研究。她去了英国并在萨默维尔市定居1917年在该地的牛津大学获得文科硕士学位。

　　根据艺术学院院长的建议，该会议将由理事会批准。优先考虑墨尔本大学艺术学院毕业生，并适当考虑到学生的经济需要。

　　任何奖学金的价值将在考虑成功申请者的学习计划、获得其他财政资源以及旅行和生活费用估算后确定。申请人的经济状况在考虑之列，其中包括(APA,GRATS,GRATSTop-Up,PORES,School/departmentfunds)等。评选委员会将考虑为申请者颁发主要奖学金还是较小的额外拨款。提供阿尔玛汉森奖学金的任何收入盈余都可用于提供贷款和旅行奖学金。
