　　Thisisthefaceofchangethroughupdatedprogramsofstudy.Ourtoppriorityistoofferbetter,morerelevantservicesthatmeettheneedsofsocietyandfacilitatethestudyofthehumanexperiencefromvariousperspectives.Workinginpartnershipwithotherinstitutionswillallowustomaximizeourresources,exercisecreativity,andbetterservethestudentpopulationbyofferingmorecourses,programs,andapproachesthatpromotebothmobilityandtherecognitionofpreviouscredits.Byincreasingtheefficiencyoftheeducationprocess,wewillbettermeettheneedsoftheChurch,societyandgovernment.Thisisthefaceofchange…throughactivitiesthatencouragestudentstocontinuetheirstudies.SaintPaulUniversityhasbuiltrelationshipswithvariouslocalandregionalschoolsystemstoencouragehighschoolstudentstocontinuetheirstudies.EveryopportunitytoofferstudentsaclassroomexperienceatSaintPaulUniversityopensagatewayforthemtopost-secondaryeducation;everycampusvisiteasestheirtransitiontouniversityandhelpsguidancecounsellorsandparentsbecomemorefamiliarwithourprograms.Similarly,theinternationalrecruitmentsectorisexpandingrapidly.Variouson-the-groundinitiativeshaveenabledouruniversitytotargetitsactivitiesbetteranduseitsresourcesmoreeffectively.BywaivingaportionoftuitionfeesforinternationalFrancophonestudents,SaintPaulUniversitycanreachouttotheFrench,SwissandBelgianconstituenciesandstrengthenitspresenceincertainAfricancountries.Thisisthefaceofchange…throughcommitmenttocomprehensiveformationwitheasyaccesstoservices.Everyeffortmustbemadetosupportstudentsintheiracademicstudies.Withthatinmind,SaintPaulUniversityrecentlyimplementedseveralservicestosupportacademicsuccess,includingcounsellingandpastoralservicesandtheAcademicWritingHelpCentre.Theseneedtoberefinedandexpanded.Also,thecostofpost-secondarystudiescanbeprohibitiveformanystudents.Financialaidcanremovethatobstacle,andplaysakeyroleinacademicpersistenceandsuccessbyallowingstudentstofocusontheirstudies.Linguisticallyspeaking,theNationalCapitalRegionandEasternOntariohavetwodistinctivefeatures:alargenumberofFrancophoneswhoformalinguisticminority,andalargenumberofFrancophileswhohavegonethroughimmersionprograms.BothFrancophonesandthosewhohavelearnedFrenchasasecondorotherlanguagewanttomaintainandexpandtheirknowledgeoftheFrenchlanguageandculture,andwemustbeabletomeettheirexpectations.Anotherwaytoguaranteegreateraccessistogivestudentsthechoicebetweendistancelearningandin-classlearning.Thevalueofcontinuingeducationisincreasinglyrecognized.Someprofessionsevenrequiretheongoingdevelopmentofknowledgeandskills.ThisisanareaoflearningwhereSaintPaulUniversitycouldreallyshine.Also,pedagogicaltoolsmustbeavailableonline,astheyhelpbroadenaccesstoeducationandimprovethequalityofteaching.TheSaintPaulUniversityLibrary,themostprestigioustheologicalandcanonlawlibraryinCanada,mustmeettheneedsoftheentirestudentpopulationandfaculty.ThesameprincipleappliestotheUniversityinfrastructureasawhole.Thisisthefaceofchange…hroughtheoutstandingcompetenceandinfluenceofitsstaff.Toremainrelevant,everyprogramofstudymustbebackedbytop-qualityresearch,andinthiscontextSaintPaulUniversityaimstobeaworldleaderinitsareasofspecialization.Equallyimportant,however,istheteachingaspect.Everyprogramofstudymustthereforebedesignedasagenuinepedagogicalprojectthatisstudent-focusedandbasedontheprincipleoftransformation.ThisapproachwillserveasthebasisforatruecommitmentbetweenSaintPaulUniversityandthestudentpopulation.AdministrativestaffalsoplayakeyroleintheSaintPaulUniversityexperience.Academicandadministrativeservicestostudentsmuststandoutforbeingrelevant,uptodateandefficient.ThisisthefaceofchangethroughcommunityengagementSaintPaulUniversityhasalongtraditionofpartneringwithorganizationsandprojectsthatpromotecommunityandsocialdevelopment.TheUniversityalreadysharesitspremiseswithvariouscommunityassociationsandgroups(farmers’market,communitygarden,YOUCAN,AUFC,GoetheInstitute,CICR),andparticipatesininitiativessuchasDiscoveryUniversityfordisadvantagedpeopleandYouthFuturesforhighschoolyouthfromdisadvantagedfamiliesorcommunities.Thisisakeyelementofouridentityandourmission.Untilnow,SaintPaulUniversityhasnotbeenmakingthemostoftherelationshipsbetweenourresearchchairs,researchcentresandprofessors,andthewidercommunity.Ourprofessors-researchersspecializeinsuchareasassexualabuse,post-traumaticstresssyndrome,conflictresolution,theroleofsocialmedia,andmanyotherspheresofstudy—contemporaryissuesthatarehighonthepublicagenda.Tostrengthenitsreputation,SaintPaulUniversityneedstobepresentandvisible.Asummerprofessionaldevelopmentschoolwouldmeettheneedsofindividualswhoarelookingforaccelerated,targetedandaccreditedjob-relatedtraining,planningtoreturntotheworkplace,orconsideringacareerchange.
