Theplanefinallytouchedtheground.Itwasaround5:00p.m.localtime,thatis,Londontime,whichiseighthoursbehindBeijingtime.Afterafussattheluggageclaim,wemixedintothecrowdofpeoplewithdifferentcolorsandstyles.Myeyeballskeptjumpingfromonealientoanother.Whatasight!
Thenweweremetbysomeonefromtheuniversity,who,welaterlearned,iscalledBarbara,ourcoursedirector.Itwasaboutanhour’sbusridebeforewefinallyreachedBrighton,wherewewerepickedupbydifferentEnglishhostfamilies.Myhostfamilyisacouplewithafive-year-olddaughter.Onthewaytotheirhome,thehostesssaidthatwe(XuHuishangandI)wereluckybecausetheyhadjustmovedtothenewhouse.Weeachhaveaseparateroom.ThebathroomisOK.Whatwehadfordinnerwassomethinglikepizzaandsomevegetables.
ItwasonlyaftertheshowerthatIrealizedIhadbeenupforalmost24hours.ItwasthelongestdayIhadeverhad.Iwillhavetogetoverthejetlag.

Inordertosavemoney,XuHuishangandIdecidedtowalktotheuniversity,butweneverexpectedthatthepavementonlyextendedtotheendofthetown.Weendedupwalkingontheedgeofthehighwaywithcarswhistlingby.
Sandrawashighlytensed,complainingalltheway.Luckily,itwasouridea,notminealone.Itriedtoappearmorecalmwhilequiteawareofthedangerwewerein.Wecouldhavebeenknockeddownbyanyofthepassingcars!ThankGod,thisdidn’thappen.

3.MyteacherBarbarawearssomanyfancyringsonherfingersandevenoneonhertoe!
4.Therearemetalboxesattachedtosomeofthepolesonthecampus.Theyaremeantforthestudentstoputinthecigaretteends.
5.CarsmarkedwithLatthebacktellpeoplethatsomeonelearningdrivingisdrivingthecar.CarsmarkedwithPmeanssomeonewhohasjustpassedthedrivingtestisdrivingthecar.
6.Wordsinlargelettersarepaintedontheroadtogivesignsandwarnings,suchas,“BUSLANE”,“BUSANDTAXI”,“LOOKRIGHT,THENLOOKLEFT”,“KEEPCLEAR”,“NOPARKING”,“STANDBACK”etc.
7.Almostallthehouseshavechimneysontheroofs.
8.Mostofthebus-driversarepeopleintheirfifties,whoareverykindandhelpful.

Afterdinner,XuHuishangandItookawalktoRottingdean.Whenwedrewnear,wetookadifferentpathwhichleadstothewindmillontopofahill.Oncewereachedthewindmill,wefoundourselvesinthemiddleofagolfcourse,andtheEnglishChannelspreadbeforeuswiththesunsetting.Whatasplendidsight!WewereveryexcitedandSandrabegantoshout(Imadesurethattherewasnoonearound).Wetooksomephotosandcamebackbybus.

Tobefrank,Idon’tlikethecomputerlessonatall.Lilyspeaksinaveryfaintvoiceandsheisalwaysonherown.IfiguredsheisnotanativeEnglishspeaker.Thisafternoon,duringhercourse,Ibegantofeelasevereheadache.Iamcomputer-illiterate,feelinglikeacompleteidiot.Thenonthewayhome,SandraandIdroppedinataDVDshop.IwasverymuchfocusedlookingattheDVDswhenIsawinmyeyes’cornerthatSandrawasalreadystandingoutsidethedoor.Sowithoutmuchthinking,Iheadedforthedoor.Bang!Ibumpedmyheadintotheglasswindow!Theembarrassmentsurpassedthepain.Luckily,Iquicklylocatedtherightdoorandfledtheshop,knowingthatpeoplemustbelaughingatme…Whataday!ThethirteenthdayofmybeinginEngland!

Thisafternoontowardsevening,myEnglishfriendBencamedownfromLondonbytraintoBrightonandwemetatthetrainstation(justlikeinafilm).BeforeIcouldseehisfaceclearly,hegavemea“huge”hug(obviouslyhehasputonsomeweight)andakissonthecheek.Thenwejustlookedateachotherandlaughedheartedly!Hetookmetoapubandwehadafewdrinks.Ibehavedmyselfandwedidn’tfight!WetalkedaboutthetimewhenhewasteachinginmyschoolinChinaandallthefunweusedtohavewithfriendsinPinghu.Hekeptsaying,“Itislikeyesterday…”Thenwewalkedtothebeachandhadaphototaken.Theoldcouplewhohelpedwiththecamerasaidthatwelookedperfect!Iwasveryrejoicedandofcourseverysadaswellbecausefinallycamethetimewhenwehadtosaygoodbye.Hugandkissagain,butthistimeIfeltmyselfreallysosmall(asBenputit)andtotallylost!
