would rather虚拟语气的三种时态

从句要用虚拟语气，即从句中谓语动词用一般过去式，表示现在或将来的愿望；从句中谓语动词用过去完成市，表示对过去的愿望，请看例句：

1、)I’d rather you posted the letter right now.我想让你现在就把信寄出去。

I would rather Lionel took it on我宁愿莱昂内尔负责这件事。I would rather you went next Sunday．我愿你下星期天去。I would rather they did something about it instead of just talking about it.我宁愿他们为此做些什么，而不只是谈论它。Would you rather I wasn’t honest with you? 你愿意我对你不诚实吗？She’d much rather they didn’t know about what had happened.她宁愿他们不知道发生了什么。（当我们要强调时，会采用would much rather的用法。在口语中我们会重读much以示强调。如：I’d much rather make a phone call than send an email.）2)I’d rather I hadn’t seen her yesterday.我情愿昨天没见到她。I'd rather you had not given up the job then.要是你当时不放弃那个工作就好了。I’d rather you hadn’t rung me at work.我情愿你在工作时间不给我打电话。还有would sooner, had rather, had sooner都表示"宁愿"、"宁可"的意思。If I have a choice, I had sooner not continue my studies at this school.I would rather stay here than go home. = I would stay here rather than go home
