While studying biochemistry at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, with plans to become a gynecologist, she decided to change career paths and become an actress.

Her father is a professor of Japanese literature and films.

Jeananne speaks Japanese, French, Mandarin and Cantonese.
