WellcomesaidinastatementitwouldstopsellingallYilibrandicecreamasaprecaution,althoughotherYiliproductswouldstayonsale.

ChinesehealthofficialsbeganaprobeintoallbabymilkpowdersafterreportsofchildreninatleastsevenprovincesdevelopingkidneystonesafterdrinkingtaintedformulaproducedbytheSanluGroup.

TheresultsoftheprobehaveshockedChineseconsumers.Outof109dairyproducerschecked,22hadbeenfoundtohaveproducedbatchesofmilkcontaminatedwithmelamine,includingmajorOlympicGamessponsorYili,andMengniu,whichbecameahugelypopularbrandfollowingitssponsorshipoftheSupergirlcontest,China'smostpopulartalentshow.
