TheFrenchRepublicisademocracywhichisorganizedasaunitarysemi-presidentialrepublic.Itisahighlydevelopedcountrywiththefifth-largesteconomyintheworldin2005.[2]ItsmainidealsareexpressedintheDeclarationoftheRightsofManandoftheCitizen.FranceisoneofthefoundingmembersoftheEuropeanUnion,andhasthelargestlandareaofallmembers.FranceisalsoafoundingmemberoftheUnitedNations.ItisoneofthefivepermanentmembersoftheUnitedNationsSecurityCouncilwieldingvetopower,anditisalsooneofonlyeightacknowledgednuclearpowers.
