Noteveryone,however,sharesthisfeeling.Eversincespaceresearchbegan,ithasbeencriticizedasahugewasteofmoneyandotherresources,whichmightbeusedtohelptorelievethesufferingoftheearth’sstarvingmillions.Ithasalsobeenfeltthatthespaceprogrammightleadtothetotaldestructionoftheearth.

Despitethesedisadvantagesandpotentialdangers,theadvantagesarefargreater.Wehavealreadysucceededinusingsatellitesforcommunications,weatherforecastandoilexplorationandwithfurtherspaceresearch,moreproblemswearehavingnowcanbesolved.Forinstance,withthesuccessofspaceshuttlesandthefeasibilityoflivinginotherplanets,wemaysolvethepopulationproblemontheearth.Spaceprojectswillalsoenableustofindafewchemicalelementstocurepresentlyincurablediseases.

Spaceexplorationcontributesnotonlytotheimprovementofthequalityofhumanlife,butalsotoourunderstandingoftheinterdependenceofallbeings;andtherefore,oftheneedtotakebettercareofeachother.
