　　【讲解】句中作者介绍了别人的两种观点，其一sportcreatesgoodwillbetweenthenations，其二ifonlythecommonpeoplesofthewouldcouldmeetoneanotheratfootballorcricket,theywouldhavenoinclinationtomeetonthebattlefield。amazed意为“惊愕，惊诧(verysurprised)”，此词一出，作者的态度即非常明确：反对上述两种观点。该句型是写驳论文的必备句型，其功能有二：介绍别人的观点;表达作者的反对意见。
