Chinahasalandborderof22,143.34kilometerslongandisborderedbytwelvecountries:Koreaintheeast;Russianinthenortheastandthenorthwest;Mongoliainthenorth;India,Pakistan,BhutanandNepalinpartofthewestandsouthwest;Burma,LaosandVietnaminthesouth.

Besideavastlandarea,therearealsoextensiveneighboringseasandnumerousislands.Thecoastlineextendsmorethan14,500kilometers.AcrosstheEastChinaSeatotheeastandSouthChinaSeatothesoutheastareJapan,thePhilippines,Malaysia,andIndonesia.Morethan5,000islandsarescatteredoverChina'svastterritorialseas;thelargestbeingTaiwanandthesecondlargest,Hainan.Oneterritorialseaandthreeneighboringseasaltogetherconstitute4.73millionsquarekilometers.
