HuaLuogeng(1910-1985)wasafamousChinesemathematician,andanacademicianofChinaAcademyofSciences.HewasbornonDecember11,1910inJintan,JiangsuProvince.AftergraduationfromJintanJuniorHighSchool,HuaLougengtaughthimselfdiligently.HebegantoteachinTsinghuaUniversityfrom1930.In1936,HuaLuogengvisitedandstudiedinCambridgeUniversityinEngland.Backhome,hecontinuedteachingintheSouthwestAssociatedUniversity.In1946,HewenttotheUnitedStates,beginningresearchworkinuniversitiessuchasPrinceton.HewentbacktoChinain1950.Inthefollowingyears,heservedasaprofessorinTsinghuaUniversity,CASInstituteofMathematics.

HuawasthefounderandpioneerofmanyfieldsinnewChina'smathematicsresearch.Hewrotemorethan200thesisandmonographs,manyofwhichhavebecomeclassicdocumentsofimmortalvalue.

Besidespuremathematicsresearch,Huaalsodidalotofworkinthefieldsofmathematicsapplications.HemadethemathematicsservethenationaleconomyandbecamethefirstChinesescientistwhocloselycombinedthemathematicstheoreticstudiesandpracticalproduction,andobtainedenormouseconomicresultsinmanyfields.

HuaLuogengwhowasdiedonJune12,1985duringhislecturetourinJapanattheageof75.

华罗庚:中国杰出的数学家

华罗庚(1910年至1985年)是中国著名数学家、中国科学院院士。1910年12月11日出生于江苏省金坛市。金坛中学初中毕业后刻苦自学。1930年开始在清华大学任教。1936年赴英国剑桥大学访问、学习。回国后任西南联合大学教授。1946年赴美国，在普林斯顿等大学从事研究工作。1950年回国。随后几年历任清华大学教授，中国科学院数学研究所所长等职。

华罗庚是新中国数学研究许多领域内的开拓者和奠基人，他撰写的论文和专着有200多篇，其中有很多已成为不朽经典。

除了纯数学研究，他在应用数学领域也花了很多工作。他的数学理论为国民经济服务，他是首位将数学理论研究和生产实践密切结合、并在许多领域取得巨大经济效益的华人科学家。

1985年6月12日华罗庚在日本巡回演讲时逝世，享年75岁。
