杨紫琼十五岁那年，顺理成章的，远赴英国皇家舞蹈学院留学，前景一片灿烂。

两年后因为回国放大假疏于练舞，回校上课的热身练习又不足够，又怕老师责备躲懒，所以加倍的苦练，不理会身体的疼痛。哪知道原来严重受了伤，而她还懵然不知。

一位慈祥的老医生为她详细检查后，与她天南地北的闲聊，问她除了舞蹈之外，还有没有其它志愿？她初时不明所以后来看见医生一脸严肃，她一下子领悟过来。霎时间整个世界崩溃了，她狂哭不止。原来一直以来苦心追求的理想，不断的努力付出，都突然幻灭了，彻底粉碎了她当舞蹈家的美梦。

教授、监护人都不断安慰她。初时她听不进任何说话，幸好激动过后，她慢慢消化其它人的劝说、分析。校长说受伤不能再跳舞，不表示就此与舞蹈绝缘。虽然当不成舞蹈家，还有很多与舞蹈有关的事业可以发挥，例如研究舞蹈、教授舞蹈、设计舞蹈等。杨紫琼抹干眼泪，重新振作，后来她改学戏剧专业，以舞蹈戏剧学士学位毕业。经此一役她此后再没有任何梦想，「因为知道无常，环境因素不受控制的一直在变化。唯一不变的就是最终必须面对、处理自己的问题者，只有自己。」紫琼说。
