DespitetheworldwideworkoftheEnglishtranslationoftraditionalChinesemedicinehasachievedgreaterdevelopment,butthetranslationoftheentireChinesemedicinesectorischaotic,unevenlevelsofthetranslationteam,hasseriouslyhamperedtheexpansionofexternalexchangesofChinesemedicineandstandardized.In2008onOctober14-17atthe2008MacaoWorldConferenceofChinesemedicineandthestandardizationofTCMtermsoftranslationproblemsstillhauntthescholarsattendingthemeeting,sofar,theterminologyofChinesemedicineisstillalackofinternationallyrecognizedtheunityoftheBritishTranslationstandards.(Tian,No.140A5version),thereforetheEnglishtranslationofChinesemedicinepractitionerstoestablishaunifiedstandardsandtheestablishmentoftheauthorityoftheEnglishtranslationoftraditionalChinesemedicineleadershipandmanagementinstitutionsisimperative.

ToachievetheunificationofterminologyofChinesemedicine,Chinesemedicinetranslationcommunityathomeandabroadhavealsodoneagreatdealofeffort,especiallycomparedtheauthorityofthecurrentstandardspromulgatedtwosetsoftranslationplayedagreatrole.First,thetwosetsofstandardsbytheWorldAssociationofTraditionalChineseMedicineAssociation(hereinafterreferredtoastheworldtogether)issuedbythebasicterminologyofChinesemedicinebilingualinternationalstandards(ISN);theotheristheWorldHealthOrganizationWesternPacificRegionalLawDepartmenttodevelopthetraditionalmedicineterminologyinternationalstandards(IST).However,evenifthetwosetsofstandardsarealsouseddifferenttranslationprinciples,ISNusingPinyin,English,code,theLatintranslationoffourstandards,andstandard-settingISTnotcoinanewEnglishwords,suchastheprinciplefocusonmedicalterminologythesignificanceoftranslation.(Tian,No.140A5version)twosetsofstandardsfortheprovisionoftranslationandthetranslationdoesnotmulti-standards,ornotfundamentallysolvetheproblem.Sofrombothinsideandoutsidethemedicalprofessionandtranslation-bordercooperationtosetupanauthoritativeorganizationontheEnglishtranslationoftraditionalChinesemedicineprinciplesandstandardssystem,andstandardizetheresearchistheonlywayreunification.Inaddition,onthecurrentsituationassoonaspossiblethepublicationofastandardizedtoolforChinesemedicinetheEnglishtranslationofthebookalsoappearstoplaceverytight.
