端午节周记英语
This week was particularly exciting as it marked the beginning of the Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival. The festival is celebrated to commemorate the ancient Chinese poet Qu Yuan, who drowned himself in the Miluo River to protest against corruption. On this day, people engage in various traditional activities.
We had a day off from school to join in the festivities. In the morning, my family and I made our own zongzi, a sticky rice dumpling filled with red bean or meat. It was a fun and slightly messy process, but the end result was delicious. In the afternoon, we watched dragon boat races, where teams rowed long boats in a competitive spirit. The boats were adorned with dragon motifs, and the energy in the air was electric.
We also enjoyed the traditional foods of the festival, such as salted eggs and bamboo shoots. The highlight of the day was, without a doubt, the dragon boat races. The boats glided swiftly on the water, and the crowd cheered on their favorite teams. The Dragon Boat Festival is not just a time to celebrate history but also a time to come together with family and friends, creating cherished memories.
