In1880EdisonfoundedthejournalScience,whichin1900becamethejournaloftheAmericanAssociationfortheAdvancementofScience.

Edisonisconsideredoneofthemostprolificinventors,holdingarecord1,093patentsinhisname.

Mostoftheseinventionswerenotcompletelyoriginalbutimprovementsofearlierpatents,andwereactuallyworksofhisnumerousemployees.

Edisonwasfrequentlycriticizedfornotsharingthecredit.

Nevertheless,Edisonreceivedpatentsworldwide,includingtheUnitedStates,UnitedKingdom,France,andGermany.EdisonstartedtheMotionPicturePatentsCompany,whichwasaconglomerateofninemajorfilmstudios.
