　　ResidentiallifeisanintegralpartoftheHokkaidoUniversityexperiencewitharoundhalfofallinternationalstudentslivingoncampusduringtheirstudieshere.Wehopethatourdormitoriesprovideasenseofthedistinctiveexperienceyouwillhavestudyinghere.Intotal,wehavesixdormitoriesalllocatedinandnearSapporoCampus.Mosthousestudentsinsinglerooms,howeverwedoofferaccommodationformarriedcouplesaswellasfamilies.Somedormitoriesaresingle-sex;othersunisex,somemixJapanesestudentswithInternationalStudents,othersarepurelyforInternationalStudents.Eachdormitoryroomcomesequippedwithfreshbeddingandlinen,aswellashighspeedinternetaccess.

　　InJapantherentfeemustbepaidgenerallybythedesignateddateofthepreviousmonth.Rentfeeinarrearscausesalotoftroublestowardalandlord,amanagementcompanyandaguarantor.Beawaretopaythemonthlyrentfeebythedesignateddateofthepreviousmonth.

　　2.NoiseIssues

　　Inseveralapartments,soundsgothrougheasilytotheroomsofneighborsordownstairs.Listeningtomusicatahighvolume,talkingloudlyinyourroomandusingsuchitemsaslaundrymachinesandtheshoweraftermidnightmayinconvenienceyourneighbors.Especiallyduringnighttimesoundsbecomeslouder.Pleaserememberthatyouliveinasharedcomplexandrespectyourneighborsatalltimesbykeepingnoiselevelsdown.

　　3.FrozenWaterPipes

　　Youneedtoinformyourlandlord/managementcompanyofyourleavingdateatleastonemonthpriortovacating.Wherethishasnotbeendone,additionalrentwillbeimposed.Yourroomshouldbeinthesameconditionastowhenyoumovedin.Intheeventofanydamagetothepremisesoritemswithin,youwillbeliableforallcosts.Dependingontheapartmentcontractyoumayalsoberequiredtopayamandatorycleaningfee.

　　5.BreachofContract

　　Theroomyouarerentingisthelandlordsproperty.Itisforbiddentorenovatetheroomorremoveattachments.Pleasealsonotethatonlythecontractholder(s)arepermittedtoliveintheapartment.
